Bet Overview
A bet may be offered about the performance of horses in individual races, awarding points according to official finishing positions.
The points structure varies according to how many runners there are in a race. For races with up to 12 runners the points are as follows:
1st = 50points
2nd = 25points
3rd = 10points
Races with over 12 runners taking part are:
1st = 50 points
2nd = 30 points
3rd = 20 points
4th = 10 points
This market gives one an opportunity to back or oppose a horse, something which traditional fixed odds betting does not offer.
Example
On major race days, we offer many Index races. In the 2000 Derby we quoted Sinndar at 9 - 12 points.
If you fancied him to do well, you would go high (buy) at 12.
He went on to win the race and therefore was allotted 50 points.
Had you bought at 12 you would have won 38 times your stake.
38 x £10 = £380
Had you sold at 9 you would have lost 41 times your stake.
41 x £10 = -£410
