Horse Racing: Race Card Double Numbers

Bet Overview

Double the total race card number of the winners of each race in a meeting. So if horse number 8 wins the first race then 16 points are alloted.

Example

At an Ascot flat meeting, our opening Double Card quote might be 78 - 81. If the weather had been abysmal and the ground was very soft, you might go high (buy) at 81 as you expected horses carrying less weight (higher racecard numbers in the handicaps) to perform well. In the end the Double Card market made up 70, the winning card numbers were as follows: 1st race = number 7 2nd race = number 6 3rd race = number 3 4th race = number 14 5th race = number 1 6th race = number 4 Total = 35 Doubled = 70 Had you bought at 81 you would have lost 11 times your stake. 11 x £2 = -£22 Had you sold at 78 you would have won 8 times your stake. 8 x £2 = £16
